Trading fairly by Paying our Crafts People on a Piece
Rate Basis |
 |
Paying A Fair Price for the Crafts we Purchase |
 |
Making payments when we purchase the crafts and not
after we have sold them |
 |
Educating the Crafts People on better ways to produce
he beautiful crafts e.g. using all raw materials to allow maximum
usage |
 |
Encouraging the use of sustainable raw materials by
using waste woods where possible. The use of 'Good Wood' such as Jacaranda
is also being promoted and encouraged. Jacaranda grows much faster
than the usual hard woods that the crafts people are used to. This
requires a different carving technique, which we are encouraging the
crafts people to learn. At the same time we are still paying the crafts
people the same amount per item as products made from hard woods such
as Mahogany and Yellow wood. |

No Child Labour is used. However, children help their
families in polishing, cleaning or packing of the products. This helps
skills to be passed from generation to generation and at the same
time it helps them develop their own creativity. |
